Webinar: Air Quality Modeling with an Emphasis on Point Source Identification and Evaluation

Updated: 5 days ago

Held on October 21, 2025.

As part of the implementation of the Regional Air Quality Action Plan for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), this virtual session aimed to strengthen technical capacity in air quality modeling applied to stationary sources as an effective environmental management tool. The webinar provided practical insights into how modeling supports decision-making, regulatory development, and the design of strategies to reduce emissions from industrial sources.

The session began with an overview of the technical principles of air quality modeling, emphasizing its use in controlling emissions from industrial facilities. It concluded with a practical case study demonstrating the modeling of a mining industry located in a coastal region of Mexico.

The event was organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), specifically its Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, and was supported by the Clean Air Institute. The session was conducted in Spanish and included simultaneous interpretation into English.
