Financed by: Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)

Participating: Environmental Management Authority (EMA)

Location: Trinidad and Tobago.

Year: 2024.

Project description

Within the framework of implementing the "Roadmap for the Integration of Air Pollution and Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCPs) Mitigation Actions in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago," developed in 2023, this project aimed to support the update of Trinidad and Tobago's Air Pollution Rules and evaluate emissions reduction scenarios and associated health co-benefits. Specifically, the project:

  • Identified, compiled, and analyzed baseline information relevant to updating the Air Pollution Rules.

  • Developed baseline and emission reduction scenarios using updated air quality standards and estimated health co-benefits for the period 2020-2030.

  • Developed a portfolio of interventions to achieve the selected emission reduction scenario, including a monitoring and tracking program, and provided recommendations to key sectors.

Furthermore, it envisioned the active involvement and participation of key stakeholders (government agencies, industry, public health experts, and others) under the coordination and support of the Clean Air Institute's staff.
