Roadmap of the Regional Group of Experts on AirQ+ for Latin America and the Caribbean
Financed by: Pan American Health Organization.
Location: Latin America and the Caribbean.
Year: 2024.
Project description
Since late 2022, PAHO and UNEP, alongside the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), have been working on a regional strategy to increase the capacity for health impact assessments attributable to air pollution in the region. This effort has led to the decision to establish a permanent Regional Group of Experts on AirQ+ for LAC.

CAI was selected to develop the roadmap for the expert group, which includes objectives, goals and lines of work. The final document will consist of four sections: background, impact assessment in the region, the roadmap itself, and group members. Previously, during 2023, the CAI participated in the organization of the “AirQ+ Train the Trainers Program”, which included virtual and in-person sessions that were attended by more than 140 Professionals throughout Latin America and the Caribbean

The objective of the Expert Group, formulated with the support of CAI, is to expand and strengthen regional capacities on a sustained basis for the periodic assessment of health impacts of air pollution in LAC cities and countries, using the AirQ+ tool. Health effect estimates will support policy development, regulatory updates and are a key input for risk communication in a sustainable manner over time.
